ok guys as some of you know i have a 1990 ranger with a 2.9 ..... Well it blew a lower intake gasket so i tore it down last night and started to go back with it today and while i was that far i decided to put a new pick up and TFI module on the dizzy but now i cant get the dizzy to fall back in. I know it is hanging on the oil pump driveshaft but i cant get the shaft moved over while i try and put the dizzy in

I need to get this thing back together pretty quick any help would be appreciated

grab the rotor and rock it back and forth. Sometimes you just have to fuss with them a bit to get everything lined up. Once it lines up if should drop in.

Put a socket and ratchet on the crank and turn it. Reguardless the cam and distributor gear are meshing so when it lines up with the oil pump rod it will drop. Once it falls line it back up at TDC and make sure you marks line up.

im still not having any luck guys i have tried both of yall's advice i have spun the motor over everything looks like it is lined up but i cant get it to go in. Are there anymore suggestions

Its just very finicky. Just keep at it. If it drops in half a tooth, rotate the firing order to make up the fact that its off a tooth.

Have someone else turn the motor over and you push down on the distributor while the motor is being turned over.

Push down on the case harder too. Sometimes they drop in, some times they get stuck.
