Well guys, 'til now I have always had my headers professionally coated for longevity and cosmetics. But, I find myself in a different situation in the upcoming weeks...
To start out, I own a '93 Ford Ranger 3.0L. I treated the engine to a new p&p '98 ranger intake manifold, BBK 56mm throttlebody and CAI. I was going to stop here, but a fellow TRS member, Live 2B Offroad, offered me a pretty sweet deal on some used headers for my truck. They do have some surface rust and have some oil stains but they look to be very solid. (and JBA doesn't use thin materials which helps) Now I'm not looking to spend much on these since I already have a 2nd ranger for that. But, I will sandblast them and clean them up real nice. My question is...
What products and or methods have you used to paint/coat your headers? I would like a reliable and affordable DIY project. I do have a larger BBQ that will heat upto 800*F if needed to cure them. Also, I have the tools to powdercoat if there is high temp powder paint. Thanks guys, I'm just lookin for a basic black or aluminum look. Nothin colorful (thats for ricers hehe). If you have pictures of your headers with the home brew paint/coating that would be awesome. Also, any input on the performance or satisfaction (or lack of) would be appreciated.
PS:If you have a 3rd gen 3.0L with JBA headers I'd like pictures of how they fit, too.
Thanks Guys!
