dixon bros or camburg?

so i've been searching around for different LT lifts, and i think i've settled on the dixon bros long travel kit for my edge 2wd for $2500. It gets 14" of wheel travel and sits out 4.5 more inches, it uses an 8" coil over shock to replace torsion bar. BUT arent included =(

ORRRR, the camburg ranger edge performance 6.0 kit. It gives 10" of wheel travel and 6" of lift, AND DOES incluse dual 5100 bilsteins for $2100. But im not sure if it extends out or not. And this place is right next to me in dallas, so i could drive to get and not wait for shipping.

im not ready to jump out and do this IMMEDIATELY, like a couple months. Just trying to get some imput.
 
yea i had been looking at that, but he didnt really add directions as to what he was doing, and whats involved.
 
You are comparing apples to oranges. The Camburg and Dixon kits that you are comparing very different systems. It depends on what you want to do. Using only Camburg and Dixon for comparison, this would be my good, better, best option:

Camburg 6.0 - Good (adds minor travel improvement, custom upper and spindle, least expensive), Bad (stock lowers/ball joints, torsion bars remain, uses Bilstein 5100 shocks (can not tune or rebuild), might not take the same level of abuse as the more expensive systems, this is a lift not a long travel kit).

Dixon LT - Better (Custom upper and lower, 14" of travel, uses coil over shocks, includes shock hoops and engine brace, good strong kit), Bad (uses stock spindle), You decide (high angle use ball joint use vs. uniball)

Camburg LT - Best (Custom upper, lower and spindle, heimed steering included, 19" of travel (no ac fan box), can mount coil over and bypass shock), Bad (most expensive, shock hoops and engine brace not included (will require custom fab))

Each kit serves a purpose. Both companies are solid. It just depends on what you want to do. If it were me, I would not be happy with the 6.0 kit and I would regret not saving for a long travel kit. While the Camburg LT kit is really cool, I believe that a tuned Dixon kit is more than adequate for most play truck applications.
 
and what was the final pricing on the dixon kit, after the added coil over shocks, tax, and shipping?
 
You won't pay tax because you are out of state. I believe that shipping was around $100.00. Besides that, the kit is $2,500.00, shocks will run around $1,200 new but can often be found on the DR/RDC classified for $600 or less for a pair. FOA shocks are also an option if you are trying to keep you cost down. 6" flaired glass for the front end starts at around $300.00 a pair (plan on an additional $100.00 for shipping). The hiemed steering and lower brace options are highly recommended, but are items that can wait if you want. Just don't run too hard without the brace. Stuff is not cheap, but unfortunately you need to pay if you want performance in this hobby/sport. Especially with an a-arm truck. For what it is worth, I spent many months running mockup budgets before I committed to my build. Some corners are not worth cutting. It is better to pay to do it once vs. do it twice. I can attest to this, I chose to run an RCD lift because I thought that it would meet my needs and save me money. That money for the lift and install was basically wasted when I had it removed 8 months later to do the DBR kit. Good luck, I know that it is a tough decision.
