where do the 3 wires on my new distributor hook up now that iim running carbd? im using my old 2.3 efi harness.

or at least what are the 3 wires

They are likely ground, ignition signal +, ignition signal - to the ignition module. Sounds like you might still need an ignition module(?) Diagrams are all over the place for ignition modules online on how to wire up, just need to know what you have first.

what would you suggest i get? whatever i get its gonna have to be from a junkyard

can i use the same coil i had for the efi setup?

sounds like you have a couple of options duraspark or gm 4wire module the duraspark is the easyest but the GM ignition works good also it sounds like you have the right distributor is ther a round three wire connector on it. If you can find the module it has a blue insulator where the wires come out of it two connectors one 2 wire for power and a 4 wire that connects to the distributor and coil. look under duraspark in the tech library it shows you how to wire it. If you have the square coil you dont need a resistor to it but if it is the old style you will need a ballast resistor. I will look up and give you a link for the GM setup also.

I used a MSD TFI-IV ignition coil left over from my 2.9L and GM HEI ignition module.

I built a little box for it with a CPU cooler out of some old computer parts I had lying around, the module will put off a little heat:

(Thanks for the idea red85! :))

I got all of the plugs I needed at Napa, but they were not cheap and hard to get the part numbers for.

But you can use an MSD box, get a Duraspark box, or just run a single wire HEI distributor, etc.

Here is a link that has some pictures and diagrams as a good example of what probably went with the distributor originally:

nevermind pete has some good stuff there or just type HEI in the search box for more suggestions

The ford truck link toward the botton of petes post has good pic of what you need to look for at the bone yard for the duraspark GL

thnks guys youve been really helpful... now its time to find what i need and get this thing goin
