New to posting, used all you guys info for years tho'! I just got a reman '88 2.9 V6 I'm trying to re-install and the &*(& distributor won't seat. It's always been a pain, but this just isn't going this time! I searched RS with no success, any advice? Oil pump shaft was installed from the bottom, and I can't see the lock washer from the top (too dark), but I'm pretty sure I've got it in correctly.
PS shaft is movable with a tool, do I need to centre it, or is should it be IM-movable? Thanks! Need this done by Monday!!

Distributor seat-solved!!

OK, two hours later, the darn thing seated itself! Never taken sooo long before.
Thanks anyways!!

Glad you got it. They can be a pain. Most of the time on a new install the dist will not drop all the way in. the easiest way is to get it as far as it will go then bump the engine over with the starter and it will drop the rest of the way. Then crank it a few times line up your timing marks with cyl. no.1 coming up on compression.Make sure all is good, the rotor pointing to num 1 terminal on the cap and then button it up. I'm sure you know all of this but hoping this will help others.
