Does any one know where I can get a distributor that I not made by A-1 Cardone?

I have a spare stock motorcraft TFI distributor that I will never use, has a spare pickup with it... I'd let it go for much less than a new one, the gear is in good shape... needs rotor but cap is good. send me an email if interested...

Would the mad billet work on my 2.0?

Yes a msd for a 2.3 works on the 2.0... same block

Ok. So what do I do about the vacuum advance because that one does not have one and also the wiring harness is different

Looks like it has a mechanical advance...but it also looks like it needs a special module to work properly...for only another $150 or so...so it would cost you around $500 to go that route...

If Scott has a working distributor (meaning the gear is good) you could probably throw them together to make your old one work...unless there is something else wrong with it...I believe you just knock out the roll pin and slide the gear off...

I had to rebuild mine a few years ago and made one out of some spare parts...but that was so long ago I can't even remember what the original problem was...something electrical initially but required mixing and matching parts...of course, back then I could have my pick of parts...now it's not so easy.

the distributor I have is the TFI, doesn't have a vacuum module on it... I guess the one I have would only work on a fuel injected engine...

Ah, but I guess what I was getting at is if the gear on Dan's is shredded, and the gear on yours is the same...maybe he could simply swap the gears and be up and running...

If it works that way...like I said...it's been years since I had one apart and was trying to think of a way to get this working without a $500 price tag...

If the aux shaft still needs replacing that is another story...I know he can swap in another one, but since I haven't even seen one up close and personal I wouldn't know what years are good for that option.

The 2.9 and 2.8 cam gears are reverse to each other because the 2.9 is a chain driven cam and the 2.8 is a gear driven cam.

So another question, lets say the gear on this aux shaft breaks and I have to get another one but can't find it. Could I use one from a 2.3L fuel injected engine and just get an electric fuel pump?
I think I might do that if I ever happens again.

Oh by the way I showed the mechanic the gear damage on the distributor and he said my oil pump is binding. Wouldn't have guessed that because I put a drill on it and it seem to move fine to me but i am up for changing it I need the Truck very soon.

I am running an 87 2.3 short block with my 2.0 distributor so that should work for you as well if needed. Any year block that has the same oil pump/distributor configuration should work. I think it was 93 or 94 when Ford changed the actual oil pump to a belt drive...meaning anything up to that point would (should) have the distributor gear drive.

I'm sure someone with actual experience can clarify that though.

Mark you are right, any engine i think 94 and older can run any 2.0 or 2.3 ranger distributor. The TIF distributor can be used also, you would just have to set base timing at ~28* advanced because there will be no timing curve. I have done this on a street vehicle and it works fine. You just need the top 3 wires of the plug wired one to power one to ground, and one to the negative of the coil.
