I've been fighting with the dealership over this since I bought the truck. On the driver's side of the hood were the body line turns 90 degrees close to the windshield the hood has a very distinct wave or crease or whatever they want to charge all it.
It it most visable when sitting in the driver's seat.
Ford told the dealership to replace the hood and send the old one back so they could look at it and determine the cause. So they decided to try paintless sent repair and basically made it worse than it was. So at this point I'm waiting on a backordered hood.
I was on the 5g ranger site this morning and found out that this is a fairly common deal not only with the hood but also the doors around the door handle.
If the truth wasn't black I probably would not have noticed the hood distortion.

I haven't noticed a distortion on mine. My guess is that being the hood is aluminum, dent repairs have be handled differently. Aluminum doesn't behave or work like steel does.

Pretty common issue. Take a look at the doors, around the windows... same kind of distortion.

If you have florescent lights in your garage the lighting will show up every flaw on the truck. And with the thin gauge steel, combined with the thin mil paint there's a lot of flaws.

But it's a mass produced vehicle... kind of par for the course.

It is definitely common. At work (BMW) we have an area in the paint shop where the painted bodies are inspected and repaired. A bunch of "paintless dent repair" techs are always down there pushing, prying and tapping on body panels. Other paint defects are corrected also and sometimes the car goes back around for a second paint application. All in an effort to make sure they are as perfect as possible before leaving the paint shop for assembly.

Finally got the new hood!
They had it painted and ready to install before they called me.
Ran by the body shop on the way home and it was done in a little over an hour.
They even washed the truck!
