I didn't realize how little I knew about Lucas...and spent an hour or so going over his bio...pretty amazing guy...who is now 4 billion richer...I think he can retire and live well for a few hundred years...

Well it does fit the Disney rule that one or more parents must be killed...

It could be good it could be bad... I kinda wish they would move on from the original charactors though, trying to match the originals is going to be VERY tough. There are a TON of good stories already written out there.

With the Pirates of the Caribbean and Marvel series under their belt I think they have about as much potential as anybody to make it right though. :icon_thumby:

And good or bad whatever Lucas did people would hate anyway...

good or bad people will hate whatever disney does just because they can, even if they are amazing movies.

I am too into them to be that picky... if I like it I like it and I don't look for reasons to hate it. If you go through life doing that things will get pretty dismal quick.

Personally I would vote for the Thrawn Trilogy with as few tweaks as possible would be a great start for a new movie trilogy. :icon_thumby:

Kind of, think i read he is dontating most of the money.

Disney buying it could be a bad thing or it could be a good thing. Disney has made good movies that aren't animated.

I do the same thing with prettying any movie. Unless its REALLY bad I pretty much love it, as long as it falls into actiony, science fiction, thriller style movie.

I have read it is going to be a new story (not based on a novel) set 20-40 years after the last movie... so they could actually use the original cast if they wanted to. Pretty much everybody is willing to come back too.

I can see it being about passing the torch on to Luke's son and Han and Leia's kid(s) (depending on when there could be more than one still in the picture) which would take some of the spotlight off the original cast.

Disney I think just got rid of LucasArts, I can not tell you how much I fear they ruin Star Wars.

Whatever you feared... it is worse.

They are not going to acknowlage anything aside from "The Clone Wars", "Rebels" tv shows and the six movies ever happened.

30 years of history down the trash. I have over 100 novels that may as well be toilet paper now. :temper:

They are still good stories... but now that they don't matter it kinda takes some of the fire out of them.

I really don't know if I care to even see the new movies now...

But don't blame Disney fully, they started running over the EU with the Clone Wars tv show (which I thought was pretty good otherwise)

They are catching a ton of heat over it, I wonder if they will budge. I doubt it...

At least with the Star Trek reboot they kinda made a semi plausable way to keep the old stories in addition to "starting over"

Wookieepedia's "quote of the day" for the last couple days, I wonder if they are trying to say something? Usually per the name they change quotes every day...

"People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians [...]." ―George Lucas in 1988
