I have a favor for anyone who has an explorer 8.8 install project. If you have the hub removed can you measure the vertical spacing in a manner like this. it would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of using the rear disc brakes from an Explorer on my 1976 280Z and i need to see if it will pretty much directly bolt on.

Thanks,

Randy

I was under the impression that all explorer brake setups interchange.

Is the 8.8 & 7.5 flange the same bolt pattern?

I believe so. It's also the same as the F150 8.8" flange and even some 9"s I'm told.

Why not get the rear disc brake set up from the 79 280zx as that was the first year for the Z's & first year of the ZX to have rear disc & if I remember correctly its a bolt on application.

28 spline 7.5" & 8.8" is different from the 31 spline (F-150/Explorer) 8.8" (top bolts are lower down on the flange on a 28 spline).

Yeah I would like to find a setup from a ZX but those are much harder to find than the Explorer setup. From what i have seen from the explorer setup is that it is superior compared to the ZX stuff. It is not only superior but newer.
