I pulled the rubber intake hose off my truck to take a look and my throttle body and butterfly seemed to be sort of gummed up. I'm guessing from the oil off the k&n?? If thats gummed up, I would think my intake and the rest of the motor is too. I know there's seafoam and I've used it before, fouled my plugs out with it. Would I have to take the throttle body off and clean it or could I spray something in there? Any recommendations how to clean it out?

we use gumcutter to clean throttle bodies at the shop. just open to WOT and spray around and use a rag to clean it out.

If it's gummed up i would definatelly take it off to clean it, spray some carb cleaner and wipe it down real good.
Sea-foam is really good stuff, I always change the plugs to some old ones i saved and immediately change the oil and it works great...

When we clean throttle bodys at the auto tech shop we use throttle body cleaner made by 3M and a rag. Theres a coating inside throttle bodys that can come off if you use regular carb or brake cleaner.

And the K&N oil would not cause that, we get cars in the shop with pretty bad build up that have paper filters. The gum build up is caused by vapors from the PCV system and EGR.

That's right, just normal buildup...now if it's black and sooty, then you have a problem.

I'll take it off and spray some throttle body cleaner in it and wipe it down. How much seafoam do yall use and do you suck it through the brake booster hose or run it in the gas? I did that last time it sucked the whole can down real quick, I wasnt really trying to put the whole can in there. Anyway I let it set for about 10 minutes fired it up smoked real bad which I expected but had a miss in it that wouldnt go away. Ended up having to change my plugs out a couple of them were fouled out.

1/3 in the gas tank
1/3 in the oil
1/3 in the brake booster line

Are you keeping it in your oil, or are you just running it for a little while and doing an oil change?

I run the 1/3 through the motor then change the oil, then add the 1/3 to the new oil and dump the rest in the gas tank.

no. you run 1/3 in the current oil (BEFORE OIL CHANGE) 1/3 in the BRAKE BOOSTER LINE 1/3 IN THE GAS TANK.

None after. It thins your oil (or so I've heard)

Just do it all BEFORE an oil change and you'll probably want to buy new spark plugs after.

brake booster is what cleans most of the crap out (if you watch videos of it the smoke is from it burning [i think?] all the crap in your intake)

How Many Mechanics Use SEA FOAM In Tune-Up of 4 Cycle Gasoline Carbureted or Fuel Injected Engines
Autos, Trucks, and Tractors
 1.
With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. (If vehicle is port injected slowly pour SEA FOAM through direct manifold vacuum line that will feed all cylinders, possible sources are P.C.V. valve or brake booster line.) This will pull SEA FOAM down on top of the pistons and to the back of the intake valves to dissolve carbon. Turn ignition off. Restart engine after 5 minutes. If severe carbon build up is apparent, use more Sea Foam as previously directed. Make sure exhaust is well ventilated when using Sea Foam in these various ways as fumes will be extreme for a short time.
Pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint into oil crank case to clean rings, lifters, dirty parts and remove moisture.
Pour 1/3 to 1 full pint into fuel tank to clean injectors, carburetor jets, fuel lines and remove moisture.
 2. Immediate Results: Smoother idle, increased R.P.M.'s better throttle response and improved performance. See label on can for detailed results for use in each area.

As it says it dries oil' it may thin it also but it says to add to the crankcase oil.

I used throttle body cleaner. It's about $8.00 a can at C.T. You spray in right in the throttle body cleaner, then run the engine for a little while.

pretty much what i said. mine was just easier to read.

you can add it to oil but it will thin it but it also cleans some extra stuff out (same as running some ATF before your next oil change)

KEEP IN MIND.

After this you need to replace your spark plugs. And do an oil change.
