Dipstick tube

I bought my 2nd Ranger this time a 88 ranger xlt supercab 4x4 love it but in the process if fixing it up for a daily driver. My oil dipstick tube broke.. yay. Im wondering where i can get a new one or how to replace it with a universal tube or something along thoes lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If it broke then you have the old one for length and I assume the original dipstick

The hole in the block where the dipstick tube goes was a pretty standard size on most Fords, need to pull that piece out if that's were it broke off
Then hit the wrecking yards looking for Ford tubes
The length of the tube from block hole to upper end is what makes the dipstick accurate, a longer tube can be cut down to size, but hard to stretch a shorter tube, lol

Same for universal tubes, smaller tip needs to fit into the hole in the block, when its in all the way measure from block hole to end of tube and mark it where it needs to be cut so original dipstick is accurate

Don't fret if the dipstick is a little off. By that I mean the oil level is a little over or under the full mark when you have just changed the oil & you know there's 5 quarts in the engine. My '88 2.9 always shows about a pint over full just after an oil & filter change. Same with the Buick Gran Sport.
