differentiel ford ranger

From 1983, until wath year did they make 6,75in. on Ford Ranger. Was it related with the engine?

That I am aware of, none.

The Rangers came with a 7.5 inch rear end as standard equipment from 83 to 2011, and had an optional 8.8 inch rear end from 1990 to 2011.

According to the shop manual the 2019s are using a Dana M220.

I didn't even know Ford made a 6.75 until about five minutes ago. From what I can find on the Google it would appear that axle was only used in 4-cylinder Mustangs from 79 to 93.

My friend have a 4 cylinder, 4 speeds, 1983 with a 6,75 in. Look like it's the only year they made it?!

That is a listed code for Rangers, 74 is a 6.75" with 3.45 ratio

Never seen one in a Ranger

Not having seen one I can't say if the spring perches will be the same as the 7.5" and 8.8" I would think they would be because the frame should be the same

The 1983-1992 rear axles were all the same width, 1993 and up are 2" wider which are fine to use, tires just stick out 1" more on each side

If spring perches are the same then a swap to a 7.5/8.8 wouldn't be too hard

3.45 gears behind a 4cyl would suck. If you get another rear end I would go to 3.73 or, if you can find it, 4.10 gearing. It will make that 4cyl feel much peppier and won't hurt mileage...probably help if its mostly city driving.

3.45’s are awful, forget about using 5th gear and it feels like your pulling a 2000# trailer-uphill. 4.10’s are a good choice, theres not much fuel milage diffrence but youre not working the engine as hard and you do have the ability to put on some bigger tires. 3.73’s arent bad either and you can get high 20’s mpg easily. Could be worse though, Ive heard of a 3.08 ratio-wouldnt want that, esp with a 4 cyl.
