Can somebody help me?

my b2500 posi differential has a weird movement. I've been told to change the differential. but mine is LSD and if I buy one at a junk yard most likely it wont be LSD.

what other type of differential can I adapt to my truck? a mustang's? explorer?

The first problem is your B2500 has a gmc rear axle (they built "posi" rear ends).

But lets say your B2500 still had the stock 7.5" FORD rear axle with the trac-lok differential. Depending on this mysterious "weird movement" (that you failed to explain) a number of factors can be at fault. If it keeps pulling to the side your problem is most likely caused by the front end. If that has been ruled out, then the brakes are grabbing on one side or the tire is low causing drag. If the limited slip feature of the rear end is not functioning, you most likely need to repack the clutch disks inside the carrier. If it sways and feels loose out back you need new shocks or your leaf springs are broken. You see my point? There needs to be more information.

But, all of this is hypothetical speculation since you have an unknown posi gm axle!

PS: Search the site and tech section for information on explorer axle swaps.

He's being facetious. The terminology is brand specific.

Good advise.

If you go to the wrecking yard and look at the tag on the rear end you want it will tell you whether it's a limited slip [posi]. Look for an 'L' in the gear ratio #;
3 08
vs
3L 08
I think I got the spacing correct but if I didn't I'm sure someone will correct me.

The main point I was getting at is, why do you feel you need a new rear axle? Maybe it is a simpler solution?

explorer 8.8 with 4.10s and trac lock. And finding one with disc brakes would be a great upgrade as well
