difference in motor mounts?/ fixed one problem on ranger

Is there a difference in motor mounts on a 2.8 then a 2.9? I was wondering if i could use the same mounts an not have to change, fired up the ol truck didnt overheat didnt have problems shifting but i was drivin didnt a lick of power an when i got it home smoke was boiling out of my engine figured it was head gasket, it was nice to drive the truck an not over heat but hate that that smoke came out head gasket, thinking about doing a lil upgrade to a 2.9 when i get time an money itll be kool, does anyone have a runing 2.9 they dont want?

The motor mounts are the same. The 2.9 should bolt right up. You'll be getting EFI which is pretty sweet too. I would call your local junk yard, there should be tons of 2.9's to pick from. Just make sure to grab everything with it, I mean EVERYTHING in the engine compartment. You'll need it.
