Phenolic or metal piston which is better and are metal piston calipers interchangeable between the Phenolic piston calipers?

Both have pros and cons.

Phenolic pistons are less likely to seize in the bore from lack of fluid changes than metal ones, since the piston won't corrode.

On the other hand when the brakes do over heat phenolic pistons are more likely to degrade from the heat and start coming apart.

If you are going to flush out the brake fluid every two to three years go with metal pistons. If you want to be lazy with maintenance get phenolic.

As for interchangeable, I can't see why they wouldn't be.
