Difference Between "Off-Road" XLT Package and Normal?

I was wondering what the difference between the "Off-Road" package and the normal package is?

The only difference I saw between my old '95 XLT and this one was an extra skid plate.

I thought mine had a bit of a lift to it also, it just seems about 2-3" higher than most Rangers.
But a previous owner may have done something to it.

stiffer "off road"shocks and I think a bit of a lift. my 98 seems to sit higher than the std version of that year.

My shocks are about as stiff as a cooked noodle. I'm putting Rancho Shocks on this year.

Ive replaced mine also, but for the first few years they were really stiff.

I was wondering about this myself. My Ranger sits much higher then any others I have seen. It's only got a little TT so far. Sitting on 31s. It has the 4x4 sticker on the tail gate but no "OFF ROAD" sticker on it.

For a '99, the Off Road package included

16" wheels & P245/75 tires
heavy-duty shocks
chrome bumpers & grill
fog lights
"4x4 Off Road" decals
"styled manual mirrors"
4.10 axle (but L/S is a separate option)
skid plates

Some things were likely further optionable such as power mirrors over the manual ones, etc., but those are the base package items shown in the brochure.
No suspension height differences (differences in height are likely due to amount of torsion bar preload adjustment)

Go with something else, I have the Ranchos currently and am not impressed. The rebound and dampening rates are off a bit for these trucks.

Interesting. I've read amazing things, and they're made in the USA.
I'm not using it for any heavy duty off-roading.

Those could be different (ideally, better). I am running RS9000XL shocks.

I've heard a lot of things about the 9000's leaking.
