From what ive seen a 2wd edge sits about3" higher than an xl. Do the edges have different torsion bars? Or are they just cranked more? Or is there something else that's different. I'd like my xl to sit at the level my cranked edge sat at. 04 edge and 08 xl.

2wd xl trucks had coil spring front suspensions instead of torsion bar beginning in 98.
The Edge used torsion bars, a different crossmember in the front, and lift block sin the rear.
Eventually Ford stopped using the Edge name on Rangers, and switched to Sport models, but Edge=Sport

Doesn't the Edge use the same front suspension as a 4x4, thats why they are taller?

Anyone ever put edge parts into an xl? I tried searching but kept finding my own thread.

Or would it be better to keep the coil spring suspension?

It really depends what you do with the truck, but it would be a lot of work to swap in torsion bars, or a 4X4 suspension, and you really wouldn't gain anything.
There are lift kits and drop kits available for the coil spring suspensions, so I'd just stick with what you have.

If Im not mistaken the 2wd coil suspension is cheaper to modify on 98+ rangers.
