i have a 97 6 bolt crank with a full length key channel cut into the snout for the crank pulley. i have a 94 crank which does not have a full length keyway and i cannot find the corret woodruff key for it. everything i've found online says the woodruff keys are the same between 90-00. local dealer told me the same thing. anyone have suggestions besides rummaging through the jy.

there is no part number i can see on the 94 crank, only 94 stamped into the second bobweight.

They changed the key way in '95

Good read here on 4.0l: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/40rebuild.shtml

"the crank was machined for full length keyway in late '95, and second step was added"

There was also a change in early '95 and that could be in late '94, info is in the above link.

it is a 90tm casting. i need to pull the timing cover back off and make sure the lower timing gear is correct. the one i have had a tab which fit in to back of the keyway. with this crank and shorter keyway, the lower timing gear will not be held by the woodruff key, only the tab on the gear.
