I'm trying to source a glow plug module for my '83 Ranger w/2.2L Perkins diesel, if you guys have one, know of one, come across one, etc. would you mind shooting me off a PM? it would be much appreciated.

I currently have a momentary switch wired up to heat the gp's, but would like to revert back to the factory gp controller if i can source one.

It's located inside the cab, behind the passanger side kick panel (pic below) it was used on '83-'84 diesel Rangers, the '79-'84 Mazda b2200's shared the same Perkins built diesel and gp system, the '85-'87 diesel Rangers used a 2.3L Mitsubishi turbo diesel and had a different gp system (to best of my knowledge anyway) so that gp module will not work.

Thanks.

Oh wow. Need any unicorn teeth while you are at it?

I know a guy who says he knows where there is a Perkins powered forklift that needs more in hydraulic repairs than it is worth. I might be able to swipe that one. If I can get ahold of him.

Tell me about it, these parts can be a real bear to source.

If you find anything out about that Perkins let me know, thanks.

forgive me if i'm talking out my ass (which i tend to do often)

but if you have a momentary switch wired in, and it works, it can't be much more than just a timer/sensor with a relay in it... most other modules SHOULD work, if you were to wire them in, as it's a fairly basic yes/no connection system...

alternately, is there any chance you can open up the module you have, and see if the components inside are fixable?

also, post up the part numbers, or a close up of the label on it, and there's a better chance of finding a replacement, i'll do some digging online for you, if i know exactly what you are looking for

With the momentary switch i'm bypassing the whole gp system and sending full battery voltage (for 6-8 seconds) to the plugs via a heavy-duty relay.

i've opened the module, it's solid state electronics i.e. non-fixable.

the module is obsolete, part #E3TZ12B533A but if you come across anything i'm all ears, thanks for your help.

i get what you mean, you should be able to replace the switch with a timer, which is what i assume that module is...

i'll take a look around for you... i checked rock auto, it implies that there is a part under the engine electronics (not the actual glow plugs) in one of the sub categories, but i can't seem to find it anywhere...
