died while driving, turns over

rookie mistake

Well, i have the engine set at tc, i just can't remove that #3 screw, it is completely stripped out. i will try to get an extractor tool today and hope i can find a replacement screw. when i turn the engine, the to tc i look through the access plug at the camshaft, i can see the mark, but i don't see a corresponding mark on the pulley. the chilton manual says to move the power steering pulley, but i don't see a reason for it. I can get the cover off (assuming that I can remove the screw). Do I have to remove the bolt on the camshaft that I use to turn the engine by hand? or will i be able to slip the belt on.

well still can't get that stupid #3 screw out of the timing cover. bought an extractor drilled the hole but the extractor is not biting inside. I will try to get a larger extrator tomorrow i guess. Any ideas?

got the bolt out.......... but

ok. got the bolt out of the timing cover, used an extractor and drilled it out:headbang:. Next problem is on the 92 2.3l, the manual says to remove the power steering bracket. I guess i have to remove the pulley too. I saw the pictures posted on another thread that shows a 2.5 l and it looks different than mine. I loosened my a/c compressor, moved it to the side, but there are no retataining bolts like the other person shows on his pic. I removed all the bolts that I saw for the p/s pump, but the last ones holding it on are behind the pulley. The book says that I need some special tool, it looks like an allen key, but of course I don't have the right size. Another question I have is about the belt guide. I have the crank pulley removed, but there is still a belt guide left. Do i have to remove the large belt i use to turn the engine by hand to remove the belt guide. I have marked the sproket and wall with a paint marker to know where my timing is. I assume I need to get a cheater bar and use the crank the engine trick.
