Didnt see that coming!!

Well yesterday while going to put an 85 internal slave cylinder on an 83 tranny of the the same type with an external slave cylinder, I ran into this problem. The 83 trannys front bearing retainer has a sleeve that goes over the input shaft/mian drive gear for the throw out bearing to go over. The 85 doesnt. I've had the though to cut the sleeve off and make it work for me. One way or another I see myself going to the junk yard anyways so Im going to try to cut it off. Is this somehting I should try to do anyways? The tranny's are Toyo Koygo.

I wouldn't cut it off, myself. I am wondering why you want to use the internal slave since the 83/85 are MUCH easier to replace and/or fix. New clutch hose costs about $ 50 to have fabricated custom to your specs and with parts in hand.

Not sure you have mounting pads and tapped holes to hold internal slave in place on the 83.

Well I cut and got it to work. I had the 85 bellhousing which is made to hold the internal slave cylinder behind it. Im putting a v-6 in my truck and getting rid of the 4 banger, thats why I had to change bellhousings and the only one I could find was one with an internal slave cylinder.

Did the modifications with a hack saw and belt sander. Cant turn back now!!!!
