What color is the smoke? Black=fuel, Blue=oil, White=coolant. Boggs out....meaning, it is missing when you give it gas or doesn't want to pick up RPM's sounding like it is choked for air? You went mud bogging, did it get deep enough to suck into the air inlet? Is you air filter plugged? Is the mass air flow meter dirty? Is your CEL(Check Engine Light) on? What shape are your plug wires in? Have you ever changed your Fuel filter? Changed your spark plugs lately?
As for the center u-joint, unless you want to take the whole pig from the front axle and do it that way, that is up to you. I would recomend getting a u-joint tool and doing the joint that way.

I don't have divine sight to figure out what's wrong with your engine based on the pitiful amount of info you've provided and the fact I probably live hundreds if not thousands of miles away.

The engine is about to blow up. How's that?

well it is white smoke and the mud was not deep enough for water or mud to go in the intake. but it sounds like its not getting enough air and i dont think it was missing. and my wires and fliter are both new only got 1300 miles on them. and thank you very much dude...

Does it run worse when it's warm? Is the radiator and overflow full of coolant? Take your air cleaner off and see if it runs any better with the filter out of the system. If that cures it go from there.
