Has any one had any experance with Deltacam?
I can get upgraded rockers kit and a cam for just abit more than I can get a comp cam.

Any thoughts?

I ordered the replacement rocker kit for my rebuild. They did a very good job and I expect them to last much longer than the factory ones did. I ordered the Comp 410 cam before I found out about their reground camshafts. They can cut you whatever you want, having many profiles to choose from. I would have have saved some money had I know about their offering.

Thanks for the info, know i just need to decide what profile i should install.
I know talking to the guy at Deltacam recommended a profile that like Comp 410

I ordered the upgraded rockers and pushrods from them not long ago. Ive started to develop a tick again though but it goes away after the truck warms up. Not sure if its cause of the rockers and pushrods or what though.

The lifters are probably culprit. Pricey little guys at $20/each from Hylift-Johnson

I always heard you never replace the lifters unless you replace the cam or something?

I think it is the other way around. You should replace the lifters if you replace the cam. But you don't have to replace the can to replace the lifters. I have heard bad stories about cams from Delta but it is always guys who haven't used them. I had one in the engine I built for my golf and never had any problems. It was quick turn around too. If I remember right I dropped it off and picked it up the next day.

The baffles in the lifters are designed to hold oil at extreme orientations (ie rockcrawling angles) this has a negative effect of also trapping oil and anything else that might be in the oil. After many miles with some oil changing neglect there is a very good possibility that some sediment has been trapped in the lifter and is plugging the valve which equates to some extra noise that you might be hearing. The lifters are next to impossible to clean because you cant disassemble them completey (factory welded).

Can just the rockers and push rods be replaced if have upper end ticking? Since these new push rods from Delta are hardened, then if the lifters are in fact not working properly, would I have to worry about damage to new parts until I can get time in about 6 months to replace lifters? Would just like to pull valve covers and swap out rocker assy. and push rods if I can quiet it down some without going any deeper right now.

Thanks,
Dan

Interesting conversation guys, we talking about Delta rockers over at Explorer Forum right now. I am in the process of collecting parts for a top end rebuild (hot supper = cracked heads) and ordered the rocker assembly from Delta against the advice of some of my fellow members. jd4242 experience was so poor that he swapped out the rockers for Sealed Power... Daniel, I wonder what your rockers look like where they contact the valve stem?

Anyway, to answer bigdan, yes if wear on the rocker assy and pushrods is mostly your problem. No if it is lazy lifters.

Have a look at the thread if you like.
