It's been starting and running great and I've just been moving it in and out of the garage to work on things...yesterday I decided I wanted to move it a bit more just to get a feel for it and drove onto the street, then backed it across the grass...but I went a bit too far down the slope and wanted to move it up a bit...

So I rev up the engine and let out the clutch...it moves up to where I want it but with a bit of effort because of the steepness of the slope...but I go to shut it off and I hear this noise under the hood and a bit of run-on...

Today I started it up and it was running kind of funny and wouldn't idle...so I pop the hood thinking there was a vacuum leak...sure enough...the PCV valve popped right out of the hose that connects to the base of the carb...I plug it in and she runs and idles nice again...

My question is...would having a bit too much oil in it cause excess pressure enough to pop that valve or was this just one of those things where the valve may have been almost dislodged?

I've got the oil up to just past the full level and it's been like that since I parked it years ago...I've been meaning to change the oil and add the right amount after I put a few miles on it, but haven't got around to putting on those miles yet...

Hey Canada rules. Are you sure you didn't have the PCV out when you were working on the engine or something? The vacuum brings air in down and out so unless your truck is backfiring like mad I wouldn't think extra oil would cause your pcv to pop off. I forgot to put my pcv back on when I used seafoam once. Thought the seafoam wrecked my engine lol

The oil being just past the full level won't have any effect on your engine. It would have to be at least a quart overfilled before having any negative effects on the engine, and even then it wouldn't blow the PCV valve off.

if the pcv valve is plugged, pressures inside the engine need to escape somewhere, usually they seep oil through gaskets and seals on the engine, possibly could of just pushed your valve out?

Thanks for the input guys...and gals...

The PCV was fairly new and I had cleaned out the passages before assembling the top end of the engine...

I'm going to write it off to being loose since I stuck my hands in that area to move the wires around recently....so far the engine has not dripped any oil after about four hours of running and idling...there is a bit coming out of the valve cover vent, but that is actually normal...especially when it is still open with no filter in place...

I hope to road test it this week and get it ready for the road...:yahoo:
