Yes, if you are IN CHARGE/RESPONSIBLE FOR a deadly weapon then YOU need to take the steps to keep it secure and away from children and thieves

And very true that you can not control the actions of thieves(or children most of the time, lol) but you CAN DO what you can do to live up to your responsibility

I think "gun control" is about the legal ownership of any gun, I don't think there should be any restrictions on "responsible" gun owners

I think Illinois has the 15, 20, and 25 year automatic added sentence for crimes committed while in possession of a gun
But it didn't effect those crimes, no drop
So Laws like those don't seem to bother criminals

Not when they're back on the street the same day...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the subject of firearms ownership.

The constitution is quite clear that there is supposed to no limitation on firearms ownership. People of the day owned the state of the art and even cannon, if they could afford them. They also knew about repeating arms and multibarreled firearms. Granted, they were crude and needed refinement but they existed.

“Military Grade” is highly subjective. If one means they were used by the military, that is just about every type of firearm out there. Before the Gun Control Act and National Firearms Act, many people owned select fire/automatic firearms. It wasn’t a big deal until. People can still own them now but must go through a separate background and registration with a tax stamp specific to that serial number. They are also very expensive. But they can be legally owned and used.

An AR-15, M-1A, or AR-10 are not military grade. The M-16, M-14, and M-4 are. Something looking like one of those doesn’t make them military grade and “Assault Rifle” is a made up term by the news media.

Securing your firearms is one thing and it should be done. But securing them to the point that they are in practical to get to in a self defense situation is unrealistic. Try operating a key pad when you have been sleeping and suddenly wakened with adrenalin pumping. Even finger print locks can be finicky.

Should everything you own be out and loaded? No. But there should be at least one that can be easily accessed but away from children.

Again, everyone has their right to an opinion on firearms. If you don’t like a particular one or style, don’t buy it.

I don’t like automatic firearms nor bump stocks nor rifle caliber pistols and I don’t own any. But that isn’t the point. Part of the reason we are where we are is because limitations were put down and people didn’t fight back because it didn’t effect their preferred firearms.

The anti-gunners don’t stop and never will stop trying to get more. The end game is that they want all firearms banned or at least heavily restricted. Sooner or later, they will get to your favorite firearms. Even that break open shotgun and flintlock musket.

Gun control is not about guns or reducing crime. It’s about control over you and me.

So are a lot of things lately, but I digress. I think that any verteran who either owns or wants to own a military grade firearm, like the one that saved his arse - maybe multiple times, should be able to own one. Over and out.

Gun control is about YOU controlling YOUR guns

If you are going to be literal about the 2nd amendment then you can have the "arms" available at the time it was written
"Arms" are tangible items, quite specific at the time of the article, not an abstract with no tangibles, like Liberty, which means the same thing, then and now
So saying there is no limit is simply not true, it is debatable, but on its face, literally, "arms" would be what was available at the time the 2nd amendment was ratified
But moot point now


Limits on what should be available for legal purchase should come down to what type of weapon do you want your "crazy" neighbor to have
Humans do crazy, always have always will, and its often not crazy to them, they have a reason, not one that makes ANY SENSE to anyone else but that's because they are "crazy"

Las Vegas shooter became an illegal gun owner after his first shot that hit another human being on purpose
And WE gave him those guns, assuming all were legally purchased
So what kind of weapons do you want the next "crazy" one to have, it really is up to you
That is what the Laws are for, for US(voters) to decide what kind of weapons we want "crazy" people to have, and also criminals as an after thought
Laws are not done to take away Freedom, they are done make Freedom better, and you get to decide by who you vote for
