My gas gauge has not worked for at least a few years. I needed to replace the fuel pump in the gas tank. I ordered the whole assembly "sender, pump" from rock auto. I removed the bed and put the new assembly in. Fired up the truck and still no fuel gauge. I'm looking for a "good set" of wiring diagrams. I know that the wire from the sender should go to a resistor and then to the gauge. I disconnected the oil pressure gauge as well a the temp gauge a long time ago:icon_confused:. I am running a set of analog gauges. Does any of the other gauge wiring need to be hooked up for the gas gauge to work?

I would think that the gas gauge is a stand alone, not needing anything else hooked up.. Perhaps the gauge itself has failed.

Check the anti slosh module on the back side of the cluster. It's a board that clips in to the back.

My moms 92 had a bad soldier and it was causing the gauge to read empty all the time.

I believe I found my problem. I metered everything up to the gage cluster. I have another gage cluster, so I swapped the voltage regulators. This was not the issue. I removed the gas gage from the cluster. I took some clip leads and tested the gage on the battery and it worked. When I went to put the gage back in the cluster I found some of the wire ribbon was burnt and not completing the circuit to the gas gage and the oil gage. I brought it to work and had the ribbon runs soldered back together. I will test it after work.

Fuel gauge works!!! So the truck ended up having a float filling full of gas as well as burnt traces on the instrument cluster. Now if I can only get it to run other than at idle.
