Dave's '93 Ranger Build

I can do the line with a universal kit and my line flarer, but yes I do need to go to the junkyard. The P/O Welded the drivers dooe around the latch, and it melted the plastic internals and the door doesnt latch. And I need a grille and indicator. But I might go with clear corners.

Needs a fuel level sender too, but might go with a new/universal one for that.

@getrdone52:
Its not a 13-54 case, its a 13-50 mechanical. Looks like the same setup as the 13-50 electric, but minus the shift motor

I'm pretty sure you will still need a driveshaft. But get it in first and see

Well, spent some more time on the truck.
Still having complications with the rear brakes, cant find a line and cant find the line flarer. But spent time cleaning the hell out of it. Found some cleaner stuff in the shop. Dont know where it came from, but it works wonders. Cleaned up the 400,000 km engine bay pretty dam well

Took out the carpet. It was nasty. I powerwashed it, scrubbed it, powerwashed some more, and dried. It looks 100% better, but its still not perfect. For a long time it was just dripping brown
Before, dont have an after

Did the seats too

I tried to swap out the transfer case. But the top bolts were being a pain in the ass, so I decided to fix the electric case untill the motor died again. I got it working somewhat, lights wont come on but the front wheels spin. Motor clicks when it is shifting.

when you swap the electric 1354 for the manual 1350 youll need to have the driveshaft for the 1350 shortened an inch to work i just went through this on my bronco ii

Finished cleaning the interior. Looks alot better

Got out to the shop yesterday. First thing I did was flare that brake line. Not bad for my first time
DSC00890.jpg

When I put the brakes back together I realized by looking in a shop manual that the self adjusting cables snapped, and the levers were in the glovebox. Im glad I looked in the book.

Then went on to re-align the front bumper. It was low, and one side was pushed in.

First I removed the valence. I tried to unbolt it, but the bolts were stuck in the captured nut things and they all twisted out. I loosened the bumper bolts, and tied the pushed in end to my little english car.
DSC00899.jpg

But It wouldnt do it. I didnt want to break the truck or the car.

But I did get it closer than before.

The bracket bolt holes are maxxed, so the bumper itself must be bent. I jacked it up closer and tightened the hell out of the bolts. I think it looks good, but it needs fog lights or something.

Then it happened

I was cutting a hole in the bedliner. For some stupid reason I was using an x-acto knife. Well I was pushing and the blade snapped and I sliced my wrist open on part of the blade sticking out. It was about 1.5 inches long and came very close to the arteries and ligaments and all that. Waited 6 hours in the hospital for 3 stitches. I cant move a wrench very well right now so I will be taking a break

I also got my stereo in a while back
Its a JVC head unit I used to have in my car. It does look like a nice stereo for a bush buggy, but it cuts out when its at half volume and hits a loud bass note. Thats why it left my car

For an amp Im using my dads 25year old Alpine 3525.

For a sub, I have an 8" Bass tube, Bazooka Knockoff I paid $15 from XS Cargo. Sounds decent. It will be going between the seats where the 3rd seat used to exist, because you could only really fit a small child on that seat anyway. Im waiting untill I can actually latch the door before the amp and sub goes in, but I ran the wires when the carpet was out.

I just picked up a black front clip off a 93 in black, used to be Dan24's truck I think, the new owner upgraded to an 03 front clip. Now I just need a door latch for it, and some shackle mounts, mine are crusty

Got my new grille can corner light in

And a new drivers side power mirror. The old one was still useable, but this one was much better

Fixed the fuel guage too. At first I thought it was the resistor board. I had one from a 97 exploder, so I dropped the tank and put it in. But it was mounted differently in the exploder so it read backwards. Oh well.

But when I got a chance to insure and drive it for a weekend, I realized it still didnt work. The brass float inside had 2 little pinholes in it, so it was always at E. Dropped the tank, soldered up the float, and and back in went the tank. Its about an hour to drop it, 3 hours to get it back in. I think the float is leaking again, next time Im pulling the bed to fix it.

Got a new latch too

Had to rebuild part of the door tho

And colormatched the 4x4 on the grille

Still needs a bit of touchup
DSC01067.jpg

And this next stuff is the last couple of days

Thought I could make it sound cooler by chopping off the exhaust after the muffler
DSC01106.jpg

But not really much of a difference

So I went and got this from my dad, he pulled it off an old VW he scrapped

Cut off the old muffler, clamped on this, and bang

Much better

And a few months ago, I moved it from the shop to my house cause I got my N and I could legally drive by myself. So I thought Id be able to drive it that week. But my mom and stepfather let me spend my only $100 on gas and a permit to move it, led me along that they would help me for my first few months insurance, only to tell me I needed new tires first. And that they wouldnt buy me any.

Well crap -.-

So I found 4 free Toyo Open countrys, 65% left. But I went from a 31x10.5 r15 to a 215x75 r15 tire. After seeing this, my stepdad said he would get the guys at his dealership (Hes just a salesman) to put them on my rims. Went through all the trouble of putting the truck on stands and removing the wheels, to tell me that they couldnt get the tires to seat on the rims. Even though he brought back all 4 wheels still on the bald 31s, full fo air, and none had looked like they had even been touched with a tire machine. Tired of the BS, I seperated, and mounted all 4 tires in the driveway, myself, with a 4 gallon compressor.

Anyway, so I get my tiny tires on and ask for insurance now. And they decided not to buy me insurance any more. Now heres what I think. My real dad bought me the truck, not my mom or stepdad. It is registered in my name, and with insurance it would provide me freedom. So they are doing everything they can to keep me from driving this thing, simply because they cannot use it as a method of controlling me. My dad is helping me as much as he can, so hopefully after christmas I will have insurance and gas so I can peel out of the driveway with big :thefinger: flying.

Anyway, thats my evening rant. Sorry for the mega read, have a good day:headbang:

So I went in last weekend to fix my fuel guage. Did take the bed off this time. Went down to princess auto first to buy a T55 socket. Had a breaker bar with a 4 foot piece of pipe and the socket broke instantly. Went back to the store all innocent like, got me another one and tried again. Used heat the 2nd time, works great for the 5 that dont have a fuel tank around them :P that one was cut
My fix for the float was taking the float an a section of wire from some random sender I had laying around, and welding that to the wire on the old sender. Works loverly

But I couldnt find any buds to help lift the box off

Ive got a plastic toolbox for it as well. Not the greatest thing but its better than trying to cram stuff into a single cab. Also gonna ditch my plastic bedliner, it covers the bedsides so I cant really tie down anywhere

Cheers for now!

Looks like a pain in the ass haha. So is your fuel gauge fixed now?

Its still backwards but I know how much gas is in it. Hopefully I get a callback soon and I can put more money into this lol

Got the toolbox in. Im debating wether i should bolt it down or just tie it down and lock it with a bike lock or something
