ok guys on my 97 ranger when i have the headlights completly off and press the brake pedal my dash illuminates and my parking lights come on along with the rear brake lights...anyone ever hear of this happening and know what the cause could be? thanks.

Start by removing both brake light bulbs.
See if it still occurs.
Then remove third brake light bulb.
See if it still occurs.
Report back.

Check the rear lamps, perhaps a filament is shorted brake to parking. Clean the sockets and reapply dielectric grease.

Check and clean the grounds in the front fenders, under the hood. I don't know which it is on a 97.

If you have a trailer connector, clean it up or replace it.

ok the rear cab brake light is burned out...and the trailer wiring could very well be corroded from all the salt from the winter...
