I like a sure thing. If it works for you, then should for me. But I dont need hydro assist, not right now at least, I still have alot of other things todo in life and on the truck right now. Getting it back to 4wd is number one on the list for it.

You don't need assist. You never go offroading like I do, plus your tires are smaller.

Only reason I going hydro assist is cause last time at Bundy Hill I cracked the case and blew a seal on the steering box trying to steer it.

i have busted sector shafts...ripped box off etc. you would figure i would have went to assist 15 years ago.

danger...i may have a vm1 processor laying around, that and a modded cv setup or explorer with a stang dizzy and rail pump would likely work good for 2-250 hp with a decent lsa cam.

I'm just going for better fuel economy but also do it the quickest and easiest way too. The carb setup is reliable, haven't had any problems with it other then when I get on it, say 3/4 or more throttle, it wants to have a hanging high idle. The quick way to make it stop is to shut the engine of them turn it right back on and its back to normal. But when I am driving her normally, I actually never go past half throttle, not even driving at 65mph.

If I do go FI, I want to do it the cheapest way possible. But not looking in into have something that has high horsepower that I have to do a cam swap and whatnot, more or less bolt on things such as mustang heads, pedestal roller rocker arms, etc...if I do want more power. But since I'm the only one with income at the moment and a kid on the way, I can't do to much to the truck right now, as much as I would like to.

My goal next year is to make it to Bundy hill one time with some of the guys on here and have the truck ready for that between now and then.

I would add another spring to the throttle linkage, if it's getting stuck at a high idle.

Went I did get it to do that driving around my neighborhood, I took it to my house and played with all the linkage to see which one it was but none budged or moved. This tells me is a vacuum activated thing such as my secondarys opening up and hanging open or the power valve. I do know when it does happen because for a very very brief second my truck hesitates... then my head gets put into the head rest. So I'm leaning towards my secondarys hanging open.

Okay found sometime to work on the truck. Got the hole on the back of the head blocked off with the use of a plate and a bolt to hold it on. Now its much quieter on the inside and I can hear the exhaust for the first time and its nice, love the dual in and out muffler. Also found my hood prop so got it put back on. Got my drink holder installed again with the help of some duct tape to hold it down. And as a quick fix, got the heater box "fixed" with the help of some weather strip tape.

As long as it gets me through winter, Im not worried. And yes I fixed the PCV too, its a bit small for the hole so it doesnt have a tight fit.

Also cleaned up the engine bay from the rest of the oil off. I also replaced a vacuum plug on the tree that had blown off, kinda knew that when it wouldnt idle so nicely or at all.

Measured for a front driveshaft and I need one that is 31inches, that is with the truck on all 4 tires from center of ujoint to center of ujoint.

How's the truck comin along? How's life been?

Truck is doing good. Puts out better heat then the old 2.8. But you can tell when she isn't quite warmed up a you get heat, then cold, heat then cold for a few minutes after the first heat. Still getting about 8 mpg but need to get the money and time to get the the transmission cross member redone and a front driveshaft on her, that's my end of the year goal i hope to meet.

I will say the pressuring pump didn't want to turn easily due to it makes my belt want to squeak on startup, this I'd backed up by sometimes turning the wheel on dry pavement it makes it chirp. Also got on the skinny pedal once and had just a hint of blue smoke come from under the hood, not sure if it was from my breather due to it's not hooked to anything and just vents under the hood. And i still haven't for to figuring out the hanging idle issue but i want to still say it's my secondaries opening and hanging open. It also idles when it wants to. Sometimes a bit high, sometimes normal and sometimes not at all, even when fully warmed up. Its idles increases on rolling right turns and idles high on slight inclines.

But between a baby on the way, moving in with the fiancee soon, and all the other things, I'm a bit of a nervous wreck. Just making it day to day is the way life is right now.

But i will keep updated as stuff progress and if I do anything to the truck, I'm never one to leave out what i have done to the truck.

That sounds like a 2.8 I used to know. :icon_rofl:

^ lol

Have you found out if its a boy or girl yet? When's the due date?

We will be finding out in December sometime but not going to say the date said due to i don't want it to spread to Facebook.

As for the idle thing, my 2.8 didn't have a problem with that at all. Once semi warmed up in the winter it idled and in the spring and summer, i didn't have to let it warm up, just start and drive.

Wish i could find a good home for the 2.8, don't want it to see a jy. I still need to get the headers off of it and get a shipping estimate for a guy on here.

Forgot to say the due date. Its April 21st.

I will be turning my trusty old 2.9 into a table one day. What about doing that with your 2.9? It'd be pretty cool in the garage or something...
