dangerranger1983 build

they are uss threads.

i will look around for a few plugs...i have a drawer full somewhere.

ford dealer should have them or any good boltshop...just use an allen wrench to install....shotgun brush to clean the thread holes.

a nice crown vic efi setup would go along way towards drivability.

They must run pretty cheap, I couldn't a nibble at $50 for the dizzy and loaded upper/lower intakes on craigslist.

They are waiting for me to cash in on my metal stockpile when scrap goes up next spring. :icon_twisted:

The crown vic setup is for 150 non HO engines. Mine is 200ish and converted to HO. A mustang setup is what I would need.

I would like to cover the engine back to FI one day, the carb is great for driving on the street but when the truck turns into a play toy and sees more terrain that isn't even, thats when the carb won't like me as much.

Now if the non ho setup would work on mine, I may consider it, my local jy had tons of them, our maybe a tbi setup...idk yet.

No the Explorer intake is what you need. It is basically a cast aluminum GT-40 intake.

I am going to nab one while they are semi-common just in case I find a Mustang someday.

So the huge question arises. What FI setup can I put on this engine, whether it be mix and match, and not have to worry about the PATS? Will and explorer intake bolt to a crown Vic intake bottom? I thought that it was all the computer setup as in the main difference between the HO and non HO was the amount of fuel the computer gave to the engine. It is it just the injector size, seeing as you can hook an early 5.0 up to a 2.9 computer by just splicing in some injector wires. The closed pic a part that has exploder intake setups to me is about a 50 or so miles from me. If the crown Vic computer, 150hp non HO setup, and explorer intake setup and injectors will all work together then maybe I can make this happen one day.

I know going TBI would be easiest but I don't think they came in 4 barrel from the factory and I don't want to spend a fortune on a custom setup.

I'm open to suggestions on this as to what works, doesn't work, etc....

No, you will need the Explorer (same as Cobra actually) lower intake. People swap them in Mustangs all the time, there is tons of info about it out there.

So the lower intake of a explorer will bolt to my current heads just fine?

Not looking to get high hp out of this, just better fuel economy. My current fuel line setup is for FI, all I have to do is hook a FI fuel pump back into it. Only thing I'm going to hate is running the emissions crud, but may be able to get around that.

Where's bobbywalter when you need him....

Took the truck to the store to get a few things, got some money out of the bank, drove 100 yards to the gas station that they have and went to start the truck again and dead, the battery bit the dust that fast. Started fine in the parking spot but wouldnt at the pump. at first the fuel pump turned on and the engine cranked super slow then stopped. Turned the key off then on and it was worse then nothing responeded, not even the head lights would turn on. Had my dad come with his ranger and hooked up the jumper cables to mine and she fired right up so we test the alternators output and it is spot on so I dorve it home, 3 miles away. got it in the driveway, turned the truck off and then tried to start it again for the hell of it and nothing, confiriming the battery was dead. $40 later, got a battery with more CCA and got the truck back up and going. Batteries are on sale, it will be $40 after my rebate comes through in 6-8 weeks. I still got away with a good deal.

Also hopefully be getting the draglink off escourt for my truck since his is shorter so that the steering will be right and he is going hydro assist, so he doesnt need it. :yahoo:

Not only hydro assist, but getting rid of the weak XJ steering and going with 1ton tre.
