dangerranger1983 build

Youve never seen a 5.0 explorer than.

I have seen 5.0 Explorers, they still look goofy to me. :D

According to the tech library they should work though, and keep in mind that for as much crap as they get the 5.0 Ex was one of the highest rated 5.0 applications. For a stockish engine they might be just fine.

Even going HO they should still work just fine, since the exploder 5.0 is HO anyways.

Closer than what you have now anyways.

There are differences between the two cams.

All I care about is if I can get them to work, no matter how ugly they are, then thats money saved.

I never said they was "ugly", just odd looking, and no, I have never seen a 5.0 Explorer, I would love to find one that I could afford to use as a donor for my 88 Ranger.

Thats me calling them ugly looking, but if they do the job, Im not worried a bit.

they will work just fine with no mods to the frame they clear just fine i am running a 5.0 from a 1997 mercury mountianeer in my 84 bronco ll and they are the same manifolds and cheap if you were to buy them, i bought one for the passenger side when i put the 302 in to begain with, it was the cheapest way with the clearance i needed without modifying the frame. :icon_thumby:

Well been having brake problems ever since I went and got my engine, all the suddenly was lossing my pressure, pedal, etc.. so though that the master cylinder went bad and got a new (remaned) one. Poped the master cylinder cap and thought this was the problem.

No change. So changed tha master cylinder, bench bled it, etc and that didnt fix the problem. Maybe the brake bosster was it. Un did it and ran it as if I had manual brakes and still didnt fix the problem. So dug deep down and though to myself and remembered that this has happened before to me but this couldnt happen to this part after just 5,000 miles....and was I wrong, it was the problem.

Another exploded bearing, passenger side again. I think its still under warrenty so going to go get that problem sovled and never going to buy another advance auto bearing again.

And when I took the brake caliper off I also found out that this had happened to my brakes due to this. Good thing they have a limited life time warrenty so have to go get them replaced.

Oh ya you are seeing 2 cracks. One is all the way through and the other is partal.

Did all of this tonight in 32 degree weather on the driveway, but had no choice and really didnt feel the cold though. Good thing I kept the old bearing from the other side so that I can drive my truck until I get paid this Friday to order another one.

They are proud enough of those unit bearings of any brand you gotta get the good ones and keep the receipt.

Kinda goofed me up there for a little bit, couldn't quite place where you pulled that thing out of on a first generation... then I remembered your D30 swap. :icon_twisted:

How much are you tightening the axle nut? The bearing shouldn't come apart like that no mater how bad it is.

My last one came apart in 5 pieces.

I think my rotors being warpped doesnt help it out either, need to get those replaced too.

As for the 302, first thing on the todo list is degreese it somehow in the winter. Also start collecting parts for it too.

I still cant decide...auto or manual tranny. An auto would be better for a mudder since I wont have to worry about mud messing up a clutch.

Go with auto. It will be easier on the D30.

Im more worried about the rear then anything, since i will be in 2wd most of the time. Im more or less going to have to upgrade it to an exploder 8.8. As for my drive shaft, whatever one I find that has the ujoint that will fit a np205 and 8.8 will do, as long as im shortening it.

The t-birds had the 7.5 irs with the v8 and I've never seen one explode. My friend has one with the 4.6 and be beats the crap out of it.

I say auto as well. Just hook up a nice big cooler for it (hopefully w/ an aux fan) for when you are wheeling. I guess it wouldn't hurt when it's driven around town either...Keeping it cool with keep that trans happy.
