No, I'll watch my rpms to see how fast I can go in each gear before throwing a rod. Not much I can do about mpgs atm until I get a vacuum gauge.

Feeling better so far, just woke up though.

The fiancee had the birth control in her arm that lasts 3 years and we have two more years on it. If it does fail for some reason, we wood be fine with that as we are wanting one more child someday. We already have names picked out too.

As for the truck, don't know what to do next on it that isn't going to cost me anything but time..May wash it and put the windshield decal on it today.

how do you like your np435, is it alright not having overdrive? i doing a swap right now and have to decide wether a m5od a zf5 or a np435 would be best, what would you suggest, i have 31s and 4.10s eventually itll get a sas and 37s but its still my dd

Depends, what do you plan on doing with your truck? The zf and np have a granny low first gear but the md and zf have OD. I have 32s and 3.73s. I also get 8 mpg but my carb needs tuned too, one guy I know was getting 16mpg with his and has similar setup but he switched to the zf. I've never had OD in this truck anyways so it has never bothered me, don't use OD in town with my car and my truck rarely sees highway use.

I do like the old school feel of driving the truck, they just digg build them like this anymore.

Found motivation to work on the truck but ran out of welding wire but here's what I have so far to hook the front and rear trans xmembers together so that I may cut part of the front one out so that I can have room for the drive shaft.

how many rpms are you turning at 55?

Not sure, just got a working tach installed but just got permission to drive on my driveway since it got redone.

Mostly installed, just a few more things to do before cutting the U part out of the front trans xmember.

I'm not a happy person right now. Two year old water pump and it is leaking out the weep hole enough to have caused my fluid level to go down enough that it caused my truck to have vapor lock because the intake couldn't keep cool. Had to wait 45 minutes and have Jello from a buddy to get it to start up again.

So my plans are to get another water pump, install my temp gauge, install a thermostat with a lower temp rating to where it will open sooner, about 185, but not have my fan turn on till 195 ago as not to have my fan running all the time but the fluid will circulate more often and only need cooled when it get to that temp as it goes into the rad. Also going to drill a 1/8 inch hole in the thermostat, as suggested by Ranger SVT, to help with any trapped air that may get in there but also circular things as well. Plus going to add a carb spacer to help insulate direct heat the intake has to the carb. Plus on top of all of that, get the 4wd done.

Other then all of that, runs and drives great, still burns the tires in first and second. My goal is to have a 5.0 with at least 325hp at the crank one day.

Just called AutoZone to see if my water pump could be brought in to be replaced because it had a LLT and I painted it and just saved myself $40. So now I have to get the old one off.

you could do like my old grand dad use to do, put a grease fitting in the weep hole, and keep it greased, he never did like sealed bearings, he thought that everything that had a moving part should have a grease fitting.
