Danger Ranger's SAS & NP435 Transplant

I'm still on the fence between James Duff 6" coils and Double Shock coil buckets or the sway away 2.0 AIR shocks... I need to make a decision. The shocks look like they would provide more flex but the coils would be better if I decided I wanted to drive to the trail. The shocks are also a little more expensive especially after I bought everything I would need to fill and tune them... Not to mention the fab that would go into mounting them. I will make a decision this week any help and advice from the RS forum members would be appreciated. Thanks

Air shocks are fine for driving on the street.

yes you have the sbf bell on there from the looks of the pic

if its just a toy and you have the coin and patience for up keep the shocks ore flex kings.

but for something you drive long distance and wheel moderately.. springs are the only way to go unless you can keep full spare assemblies with you.

busting the shock bodies/mounts or wasting a seal happens often and i have seen it too often to use them on a driver.

this is about as cake a swap as it gets.

Did you put together your own tank and what not for filling and tuning your shocks, if so how much did the setup cost you?

I use the tank at work, but I made my own fill valve. I was thinking of buying my own kit and using it for on board air though.

If you go with air shocks, just be sure to make good bumps and use limit straps, that will help keep the shocks good. I haven't seen any failures ever, but if you have bumps, it shoudn't be too bad to drive it where you need to go to fix it.

Well I know I have neglected my build thread but a lot has changed since my last post including moving and changing perfusions. Anyways i have finally gotten around to tearing into my ranger and getting her down to the frame. My plans have however changed a little and I sold my james duff radius arms and have decided to go with a 4 link front coil over suspension. I also picked up a set of super swamper 38" tsp's and the correct bell housing for my np435 swap. I have attached some photos for your viewing pleasure more to come!

What kind of steering you gonna run? Will the 4 link be parallel and use a track bar?

I have not put much thought into the steering yet, my thoughts so far were to retain the stock steering box and put some gussets on it to keep it from breaking off from the stress of the 38s. I'm sure there will be some other fabrication required in order to get the steering how it needs to be but I will walk that path when the time comes. I do plan on installing a parallel 4 link and using a track bar but I have also been thinking about just going with a 3 link. My main focus as of now is getting my transmission installed I hope to have it knocked out by next weekend but I do not have much free time due to my job. I will be heading to Oklahoma City on a business trip for the week and will be unable to mess with the truck until the weekend.
