Dana 35 wheel bearing setup

I believe according to a study I've heard about, .001" preload is the absolute best setup for bearings, of course it's almost impossible to measure that for most people. As said in here I hand tighten tighten the inner with the socket and crank the outer as hard as I can.

I found on mine even hand-tightening the inner bearing with the socket yielded too much preload when I was done. When I'd torque the outer nut down to 250 the bearings would tighten up. And I was making sure both nuts wern't turning when I tightened the outer down.

So I set the inner nut such that the bearings were a little loose. I could move the rotor a little in and out. Then when I tightened the outer down, there was a small amout of preload on the bearings.
