i have an 87 ranger x-cab 2.9 with a 6"skyjacker kit on it. it has stock axles and i want to upgrade. i already decided on the explorer 8.8 for the rear but the front i have not decided yet. not to sure if i should just bolt up the explorer dana 35 or do a sas with a dana 30. not thinking d44 cause i want to keep the bolt pattern the same. what are some of the pros and cons of doing the swaps and what do you guys think is a better choice? thanks

The dana 30 is a weaker axle and will be much more difficult to install.

ok i read in tech area about swaping them in what all do i need to take off the donor rig and what all do i have to modify on mine?

D35? If you take the t-case and front shaft it's 100% bolt in. You can use the front shaft you have now if you get it shortened about an inch.

now what do you do if i dont take the t-case will my driveshaft and t-case still work? will the drive shaft from the explorer work with my t-case?

Like Sunk mentioned, your original driveshaft will work fine if you shorten the tube on it 1 inch. This is because the D35 axle has a longer pinion than the D28.
