I am trying to figure out what these lockouts were called, I have seen them before. They are a non-selectable fully locked lockouts. Almost like a solid hub for the end of the axle. About to do a Dana 28- Dana 35 swap and don't need selectable lockouts for it since it is going under a trail rig. If anyone knows what they are called it would be greatly appreciated.
Also does anyone know if there is a way to turn the automatic locking hubs into a full time locked hub? Something has to move in there to lock and unlock, I can't help but wonder if there is a way to jam them to fully locked? I mostly want to see if it can be done and if it will hold? Any info would be great.

Woo hoo B2!!!!!

That would be called a drive slug.

You can weld the locking ring in the auto hub so it is permanently locked if you wish.

I did that for a set of trail spares once.

Freaking awesome

Today your my new hero, thank you I could not remember drive slugs, and I'm going to try welding the autos on a D28 to test strength first, did you weld the inner splined gear to the outer or the outer to the hub itself? I'm thinking both. Right? have you ever tested your auto's? Again I greatly appreciate the help! I love this site!:icon_welder:

the 28 will probably break before the hub does

Auto hubs are very weak. They won't last very long at all.

AFAIK, no one makes a D35 drive slug anymore, you might have to find a pair of D30 or D35 differential side gears in a junkyard, some pieces of thickwall steel tubing (2.5" I.D. or so), and some ¼" steel plate and weld up your own set of drive slugs.
Another option might be to do the D44 outers swap on your D35 and then run D44 drive slugs.

FWIW, The Warn pt# 37780 Jeep locking hubs have proven to be pretty darn durable, and would be the strongest option for something that simply fits right on it.

I have never ran mine, like I said, just trail spares. (along with 2 more sets of manual locking hubs now that i'm running a front locker),
