well can you take a dana 35 front and take the 35 pumpkin out of it and put a different, larger, stronger pumpkin in the carrier? Im trying to keep my TTB...

I dont mind changing TTBS...but i want the independant suspension...any ideas?

the differential part isn't the weak link...

If you've got time and money you can do anything.

People breed D60/9" hybrids runnin a 9" housing with 60 C's, nuckles, spindles, hubs, and custom shafts.

People do the same with 14 bolts.

Some guy stuffed 60 shit in a D44.

But science folk at some major house of learning discovered that with the proper amount of work, you can actually get a reflective sheem out of shit. So I guess you can polish a turd. I think our tax dollars funded that one actually.

Check the tech library - there are posts on D44 knuckles and axle parts on the d35

Thanks guys...Yah my idea for the future is to stuff a completely WORKED OVER 302 in my ranger and try to keep my front end a TTB...I DONT WANT TO SAS my truck....not doggin it, just thought it be cool to keep it Idependant suspension and get a rediculously stout rig out of her....

So this question arrised when my friend said that to much horsepower with TTB's makes them weak and it could break, so i figured if i threw in something bigger i could make it basically unbreakable.(figurativaly speaking....we all know everything is breakable...lol). but i just rebuilt a DANA 35 and would like to keep the housing if i can and swap a different pumpkin, knuckles and axles if i can...

SO LOOKS LIKE IM HEADED TO THE TECH MANUALS ONE MORE TIME....THANKS ALL!

Swap in D44 beams and use a D50 senter section. Your weak link will be the D44 u-joints.

Or cut and extend the D50 beams and convert them to use coils.

well doesent the d44 come in the bronco that came with a 351 and the d44 shafts are the same thickness as the d35 thickness

Yeah, the pumpkin isn't the weak link, it's the shafts.

Check the Upgrades sticky at the top of the forum here, there are several things you can do to strengthen the axle for more power handling or for offroad use with lockers (look for the Jeep hubs and u-joint swaps)

you can do this? in the spring im planning on picking up an 89 f250 with the 351 and 5 speed it has the 10.25 full float in the back and the dana 50 ttb in the front. i would LOVE to keep everything and put it into my ranger includding the 50ttb but i didnt wanna use leaf springs in the front (the way it is in the f250)

yah, just kind of seems senseless to go from a 35 to a 44 when all the difference is u joints out. and im more worried about my differential and axles breaking. think i might just stay 35 and get so0me aftermarket axles. that and its alot less work and probably about the same cost. i know guys who raced with 35's and they never broke em. those 35s are tuff. guess ill just worry about what i have and replace it when i need.

small stuff...

thanks for the input guys...
