I have my axels out right now, and I was counting the splines, wondering if anyone with a Dana 35 had the same situation.
The driver side axel has 27 splines, the shaft that goes into the diff and the shaft that turns the hub. The passenger side has 27 splines on the hub side, but the shaft that goes into the differential has 31 splins, and has a larger diameter. Is this typical?

I want to order this:

Powertrax Lock-Right
P/N PT 2310
Dana 35 27-Spline Locker
For Open Differentials

Will my axels fit in there?

Its James Oaks Enterprises, and there is no listed number, already sent them emails, no response. I hate to buy the same thing at 4 wheel parts for an xtra $100, but if they don't get back to me, oh well.
Thats why I posted here.

after reading through here re lockers, i'm not sure what I have anymore, Whats the difference between TTB and IFS?

Yours is TTB, IFS came out on rangers in 98 and on explorers in 95.

They're both IFS actually... TTB is Twin-Traction-Beam, the later trucks use a conventional A-arm setup w/torsion bars.

The 31-spline part is the slip-yoke shaft (has nothing to do with the diff). If you look closer, there's more to that shaft before it enters into your diff housing. Inside the diff it's 27 spline just like the rest.

Double check and make sure that you do not have the d35/28 hybrid diff that some 3.0L and 4cyl truck came with before you order anything!

If the aluminum diff has fins or ribbing on the bottom side it is the true D35, if it is smooth you have the hybrid d35/28 which would require a locker for a d28.

Well noted, THanks guys. I have the fins, and yes, there is more axel in there which is indeed 27 spline. I have the diff out, and going to pick up my power trax no slip. There are still 3 options, pretty sure there is no abs in the front, and its open, not trac loc, is that right? First time this deep into the front ttb, I really appreciate the info.
Can you ID with a pic?

If everything's factory stock, you'll have a plain open diff in there.

RE my front differential, I have some concerns before I put it all back together, I sure could use some advise. There are 5 or 6 bearings in there, and some seals, should I replace all of them just to be safe? There doesn't seem to be anything wrong, just don't want to do this again for a very long time. The housing was covered in grease, is that a sign one of the seals is leaking?

I'd say replace the seals, but there shouldn't be a need to replace bearings if they're in good shape.
