Dana 35 + Arb cover =?

Ok so i picked up a aussie locker for my truck to go with the detroit trutrac in the rear. I have the factory dana 35 ifs set up in the front. I want to put a arb diff cover on the diff why i have it out. My question is, is there any reason it wont fit?

I dont know if it has enough clearance. Possibly tho. never thoght about it.

Not sure why you would need a HD cover, it is already protected by the sub-frame....

I want it for the drain holes and to help make the diff case stronger. Plus it looks sweet is the biggest reason

actually i'm almost certain it'd have to be.. i don't think arb makes a d35 ifs cover.

It will not work on all D35 axles, no way at all it will work on a TTB 35.

Ya thats true, is there any options out there for the ifs dana 35 that anyone knows will work? I hate not being able to change my diff fluid easily.

Very easy alternative. Drill/tap a hole in the bottom of your housing if/when you have it out the next time. Shouldnt be that difficult and you should have enough room to get up in there with a wrench to remove it.

^^^^This is exactly what I did when I had my explorer. I had an 1/8" pipe plug at the very bottom and was able to drain it. Pretty easy to do. Just drill a hole in it and the grease will carry the shavings out too.

Nope...no kit, just used what I had lying around my shop.

You will probably want a pipe tap too, a regular tap is a different thread.

I'll add some insight to this.

First off, it MAY actually work. Here's my basis for my belief.

The rear Jeep D35 axle STILL shares the same cover bolt pattern with the TTB D35. That's right, the rear, low pinion, D35 pumpkin will bolt up to the TTB axle beam. If they kept the bolt pattern the same through that much of a transformation of application, I can't foresee them changing it for the "real" IFS D35.

I can provide a picture if some of you truly don't believe me.

I would suggest the drill and tap method if you're mostly after a drain hole.

Ask your Jeep friends for a spare cover. They'll at least know somebody who will be getting rid of one, and do a test fit.
