I have a 96 ranger supercab 4x4. 4.0 liter v6. Im currently running 31" maxis mudders. I have heard that I need at least 3" body lift to put on 33's. Will this be to much strain on dana 35 axles? and is 3" lift enough? I dont really want to go to tall due to the top heavy feel. I get around pretty well with the 31's but I like the look of bigger tires and think 3 inch lift would look nice to. So, will the 3" lift allow 33's and is this to much for a dana 35 or the 4.0 V6?

you should be fine with the body lift (as far as clearance for the 33s), and the 4.0 can definately push them, the deal breaker is going to be your gear ratio. with the larger tires you will need higher gears to compensate for the change in rotational diameter.

I have a 3"suspension lift on my 90 BII with stock gears and 33" BFG's. I only have a little bit of rub that I am getting rid of this weekend on the front body. I figure with a body lift you should be good. Deff notice the difference in the RPM and Speedo readings though.
