What are the differences between a Cherokee and grand Cherokee d30?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm trying to gather parts for a sas. Is this one Any better or worse than a regular Cherokee of the same year

Assuming you mean the small gc and not the full size one. They're more or less the same thing, some have cad and some don't, some have abs and some don't. Some of the gc after and including 1999 have cv shafts instead of u/j's and also a different bolt pattern. There were also a couple of different brake callipers used on them so get one with the callipers if you can.

Sweet so a 95 grand Cherokee and a 95 Cherokee are essentially the same. Thanks

Ideally you would want a high-pinon without the CAD and with U-joints because there are some U-joint upgrades available.

But yea, even the Wrangler style Jeeps had the same axles. Just make sure you keep a note of what the axle you use came out of for when it comes time to buy axle parts because like martin said, there are several flavors of D-30 axle.

The plus side to having a CAD D30 is that you can get a cable disconnect unit that would allow for disconnection during extremely tight turns when in 4wd & also allow for 2wd LOW

Yea, but the non-CAD axle is stronger. And you can do a manual hub conversion so you have lockout hubs.

See, Jeep originally had to do a CAD front axle because they didn't design for manual hubs and their transfer cases even when in 2wd would spin the front driveshaft. Our RBVs don't have those issues to deal with since we run a different design.
