If I weld the spiders (Lincoln Lock) my Dana 28 front, should I expect any issues when turning with the t-case in 2wd and the manual hubs unlocked? I know that welding the gears prevents the spiders from rotating at different speeds which can cause issues with steering but if I unlock the hubs and disengage the t-case I shouldn't even notice it, right?

Correct. If the hubs are unlocked, the welded diff will have no effect on handling.

However, WITH the hubs locked on your welded D28, you may briefly feel some binding (the effects on the steering of the truck wanting to forge straight ahead instead of turning), at some point followed by a medium-loud *Bang!*, after which the truck will then turn easier due to only having 3-wheel drive after one of your D28 axleshafts break (if you're lucky, you may even hear a 2nd *Bang!* and will now have 2WD as the other D28 shaft breaks, and then it will turn just like it did with unlocked hubs lol).

If you can't tell, I highly recommend you do not weld a D28. The tiny shafts are just too weak on it.

^What he said but i also dont recomened welding the front spiders on anything as it can have negative effects. Weld your rear gears together and if you still need more traction than buy i locker for the front, they are not that expensive and you'll love the traction.

That's good to know. I definately want better traction but I can't really afford lockers right now. I will eventually swap out to D35 or SAS but for now I have to work with what I have. I'll probably just weld the rear for now and see if that helps. Thanks.

Weld the rear. It will make a big difference and will take allot of stress off of the D28.

YEAH!!! what they said:)
