what is the difference between the d28 and the d35 and what one is better????? and how much lift do you get out of explorer springs or what do people put them on there truck for i have seen people say about puting them in there trucks and wanted to know why thanks :icon_bounceblue:

D28 ( where D stands for Dana ) is the weaker of the 2 available in RBV's....

Dana has always numbered their Diff's with the numerically higher being stronger....why most strive to use a D60 for its strength especially with big tires ( 40" + )

with the D28, most don't recommend useing anything bigger than 31" tires off road....

the D35 is good up to 35's.....but, either way you can still break things....

as for the EX springs, the 3 leaf pack on the rear will get you about 1 1/2" of lift on average ( depends on how wore out/ mileage is on them when ya get em' )...just remember that you have to take the center pin out and reverse it to put it in a Ranger....and remember to have a clamp on them as they have a lot of pressure stored in them...

the front springs won't really do anything for ya....

Fixed the typo in the thread title for you.

I beg to differ, I gained as much on the front as I did on the back with my explorer coils up front...and I even have the SOHC (lighter than the OHV??). if you have a 2.3, 2.9 or 3.0, you will gain with the coils...

I beg the differ with you. The only difference in the coils is spring rate. The explorer coil springs are not any longer than the Ranger's, 2wd or 4wd.

If you gained anything it is because your original coils were sagged.

It actually matters what body style truck you're swapping the coils under.
A V6 Supercab Ranger won't gain anything at all from Explorer coils, however a std. cab 4-cyl truck (or a BII) most certainly will.

the spring rate will effect the overall ride height. if u have a 500ppi spring and u have less weight then the rig it come off of it wont compress as much as it did with stock of say 400 ppi, even if they are the same length.
