I swapped out my 28 hybrid for the true 35. However, when i went to install my front driveshaft it seemed to be too long. I slid the front yoke all the way up on the splines and was able to squeese a u joint in. Should I leave it the way it is or have the shaft shortened to allow it to move up and down the splines?

i'd shorten it. when your suspension compresses, the driveshaft has to "shorten". if it can't shorten anymore, but your suspension is still compressing, something has to give. could end up cracking your transfer case housing......

Wait, you swapped your front axle out of your 97?? That should have been a true d35 to begin with i think....

Hybrids ran from 93-97 in all 2.3s and some 3.0s.

Just get a driveshaft from anything that had a real D35.

Hmmm. That's a bit weird.

I saw no difference in length between my front driveshaft, my truck originally being a hybrid D35, and the front driveshaft from my 96 parts truck, which had a TRUE D35.

What I did find a difference in is the explorer and Ranger front drive shafts.

Just seems odd......:icon_confused: I could double check.

I have an update.

I placed my True D35 shaft next to the hybrid D35 shaft and the hybrid shaft is a bit longer. By about 2".

Find a front shaft from a true D35.
