daily doubler build

Psh, the KM2's we're last year's tire, haha. They lasted right at a year, from ~April of 2012 to March of 2013. Been running the MTR's since the Moab trip last spring. They're about on their way out as well. I'll probably be tire shopping in the fall. I drive a lot. :D

So what's next years tire? Red letters? Nittos?

Oh oh oh! Boggers!

Mickey Thompson MTZs are tire I would like to try.

Thanks Jon.

And you guys are funny. No reds or bias tires for me. Between the KM2's and MTRK's, I think I liked the KM2's better. They're a slightly narrower tire and they flexed a bit better. I know people talk about sidewall strength, but I never put a hole in one so I can't complain. They both lasted about the same amount of time.

I'm not sure what the next tire will be at this point. I've pondered going with another set of KM2's, but it's hard to spend that kind of money on something I've already had when there's so many other choices out there. I'll just have to start doing some more research as I get closer to the replacement time. Who knows what I'll end up with.

You just needed more sidewall........my MTRk flex stupid crazy on my bead locks. But I have a lot of sidewall with 42s. And 2-3psi lol.

Don't get me wrong, I could wrinkle them up pretty good, I just think the KM2's conformed to the rocks better. They seemed more pliable.

My vendor said he's looking into having Yukon warranty the shaft. That would be awesome. I plan to swap in my spare tomorrow, regardless.

I ordered a heater for the shop, so hopefully I can get that installed next week to wrap up the 'fab shop build' and get on to metalwork, which brings me to my latest project.

I've been pondering a bumper design similar to this for quite some time, so I decided to put some more thought to it and model it.

Some small details will change when I go to build it in real life (truck frame isn't 100% accurate, bolted bracket design may change, etc.), but that gives you a good idea of what I've been thinking. It'll act as a skid for my gas tank, and it's bolt on so I can still get the tank out if need be.

I have some other small projects to complete before diving into this one, but I thought I'd throw it out there to hear you guys' thoughts. It weighs in at just over 65lbs. The receiver won't be used for vehicle extraction - simply for mounting the boat rack.

I like it. Looks clean. Does everything in one.

I'd add bars from the bottom of the square tubing part to the corner of the wheel well for strength when you land on it, it wont flex into the bed, but like you said, some changes would be made, and I know you'd think of that. From the corners of the square tubing coming in to each side of the receiver for more center support is the only other addition I'd make, but you probably thought of that too, space providing. Looks good, I like it....
