daily doubler build

...It still does alright with the stock stuff. If the steering locks up, it usually just takes a light slip of the tires to get it to work.

That sounds familiar  I haven't had a strong desire to go hydro as it's pretty rare that the steering gets bound up enough to cause me issues. What size ram are you planning on running?

That's the same boat I'm in. I've had the ram and related components sitting in my room for probably two years. The steering never got on my nerves enough to drive me to install it.

It's a PSC cylinder but it's a pretty little guy. I can't remember if I went with 1.5" x 8" or 1.75" x 8". Just off the top of my head I'm thinking I went with the smaller of the two. I should check when I get home, haha.

I am running an 1.5 x 8 with a 3/4 rod. I couldnt be happier with the speed/force it has.

I have a Saginaw, but it is only set a 1000 PSI and 2 GPM

Add a cooler.

Mine burps fluid on occasion but I check the level frequently. I was planning on doing a Saginaw swap and rebuilding the box when I drill and tap it so the entire steering system will be fresh.

I've never boiled the fluid, even on 100°F+ days, and I' running a cooler. The only time mine will puke is if I manage to kill the truck and the steering turns. At which point I shower the whole engine bay with PS fluid :icon_twisted:

I posted a new thread in the Events forum, but I thought I'd bump this thread as well. The next wheeling trip is on the calendar.

I'll be at the Toys for Tots event at the Badlands in Attica, IN on Dec. 7th. I'm considering signing up for a guided trail run too. I think they're held at Mission Impossible and I've never been there before so it'd be cool to check that out.

Anyone been on the 'formal' guided runs at the Badlands? I need to give them a call to get the low down on how they work.

Well, we survived the Toys for Tots run. Bundled up and spent the entire weekend in the rig with the half doors on, including the drive to and from the park.

Other than that, I've just been playing in the slow here locally.

I've also been developing the shop at the new place. It's coming along nicely. I should be fully set up in the next month or so. It started as an empty stall with a single incandescent bulb in the middle. I wired it to handle 100a service, sheeted the ceiling, and added 6 recessed lights in the ceiling along with 3 8' fluorescents on the walls. It's a small space, but it should make a clean little fab shop/paint booth. I have some ideas floating around and I'm excited to start building again.

I modeled the room as well.

Here's how it sits today.

Once I settle on my design for the welding table, that will be the first project. I also have an air over hydro kit for the bender so that'll be next on the list - then it's 'game on' for whatever projects come up.

I was out playing in the snow again yesterday with my brother. 496cid big block on 44" boggers. Its ridiculous.

He overheated down in the pond. I broke an outer. Neither of us could get out, haha. The tractor pulled me out, then he had to go get his mini excavator to pull his Jeep out. It was an eventful day for sure. Here's my carnage.

4340 outer. I was in double low 2nd gear coming up a vertical ledge and it just popped. I'll see if they warranty it. Even if they don't, I have another 4340 spare.

I'm surprised the shaft broke before the hub did, or were you running slugs?

SVT

Nope. Warn Premium hubs. I have broken one of those before though, so they must be matched pretty well in regards to strength. I think the temperature may have had something to do with this shaft failure. It was ~15* out that day.
