daily doubler build

are bringing any spare tires with you on the trip?

1 spare

I know your busy but you got any pics of that cage I've been hearing about?

I've actually been taking very few pics of everything. Once I get in the zone I don't want to stop to take pics.

I'll see if I can get a couple pics this weekend after I figure out how the interior is going to go back in it. lol

Oh no, I know where everything USED to go. There seems to be a 1.75" tube in the way of some stuff now. haha

To the shop I go!

Been there, not much original went back into mine. In fact most of it came out in pieces anyways because of frustration....

Alright, here's an update. I've had the truck completely stripped down, had the trans apart to replace the output seal, replaced the t-case rear output seal, new t-case rear output flange (I think this finally solved my leaking issue), nearly 100% fresh frontend (spool/axles/joints/hubs/rotors/locknuts/lockouts), and I freshened up my rearend as well (re-ran brake lines, new shafts/rotors/seals). Front driveshaft is balanced and a replacement is being made (should be done later today). Tom Woods is direct shipping my spare rear shaft to the start location.

My drivetrain should be damn near good-as-new.

The cage is done and the interior is back in. Yes the B-pillar is spliced. It's sleeved, plug welded, and fully welded through the 3rd brake light access. Glass guy comes later today to re-install the windshield.

I still have to plumb the line lock and pack up all my stuff. I feel like I'm sitting pretty good right now though, especially compared to how I felt last week at this time. I've got a lot done.

Here's some pics too.

Shitty pics, I know. Most were taken while burning the midnight oil. Lighting isn't the best in the shop.

Looks pretty good Bray. I like how you cut the inner support to give more room for the cage. Think its possible to replace the inner structure that you removed for the tube to add the strength back?

It looks awesome! You guys leave Friday right?

No way. Nothing is able to get between my B-pillar and my roof besides a welding rod. haha

It didn't do much for strength anyways. It was literally glued to the roof. After I cut it at the bottom, I easily pulled it off by hand.

Thanks man. We're leaving Thursday from Illinois.

We're allowed to post updates, but we have to include a link. I guess I'd better start doing that since we're getting close.

Im always amazed how you guys are able to get to the backsides of those tubes to weld em up.

Looks good man, turned out nice. Keep me updated via text fugger :flipoff2:

looks awewome. Gives me a pictorial of exactly what I need to do to my reg cab.

Spooled front eh, you're hard core now :thefinger:

You know it! I won't have to wonder if it was my locker that broke if I hear something let loose in the front end. No running of air lines or packaging a pump/tank. Clean, simple, robust.

I dig the cage, looks like you've got that dude tucked in there nicely.

Thanks man. It was a pain for sure, but I hardly lost any cab room. I picked up some padding today. I'll wrap the B pillar (if I have room) and the tubes that run from the B to A pillar and call it good.

wear a helmet... just incase :icon_rofl::D

Got all of the mechanicals wrapped up around 2a last night. Drove the truck home and into work today. Everything is good. All the cases are dry (no leaks), and the rig feels good. Solid. Strong.

I don't see any issues making it out there and back. I plan to wheel as I always do - as slow as possible, but as fast as necessary. That being said, the truck will get worked if necessary. I don't look to hold a whole lot back. This is once in a lifetime.
