daily doubler build

Yeah, there was another little pic next to a tech article. Nothing huge, but neat to see the rig in a 'non-UA' issue.

I have read each magazine and the articles related to the UA. I even followed it while you was out west traveling (stalker huh?) hoping to see something related to that day. Mainly followed it due to the fact that I had some sweat involved with you getting there in it. I have noticed that with your pictures they praise your driving skill and your approach with the truck. I have yet to see mutiple pictures of your truck like other jeeps and or buggies who also attended. The last UA they covered that had Andrew's truck in it had more pictures only because he broke. Maybe that is one of the points that they press due to the fact that it had to be fixed on the trail and not a shop. Also (forgive me here) Bisquick59's BII and how they had to install another engine. They seem to hang on broken parts and not the wheeling that I think they should. Some of the vehicles that they also cover are worth more than my house and not the ones built in a machine shed like yours. Just something that I have noticed lately from Petersen's and others have noted it too with Letters to the Editor.

^^That and they focus on the 90% jeeps in the event. Still badass though that you and your ranger kicked ass and drove home with no issues. Hopefully they have more RBVs now that they are getting more spotlight recently

Let them keep showing off the jeeps, keeps the prices on our RBV's down :)

I couldn't be happier with the coverage we've got thus far. I understand that they're a magazine and they have to showcase what people want to see. Unfortunately probably 90% of the offroad community drives a Jeep, so of course that's what they want to see in a magazine.

Nail. On. Head.

This is why I like fourwheeler better now. Every month they have some bad ass non-jaheep on the cover.

After a good 2 weeks, I finally finished the entire build thread. All I can say is, amazing work. Honestly, beautiful job on every aspect. I'm amazed at what you have into this and how it performs and that you still daily drive it. Someday, I hope to have a rig as well put together as yours.

Thanks man. It means a lot to know that people actually take the time to read the entire thread. I'm glad I could be an inspiration.

The Ranger is still rockin. Dad decided to section off the farm shed, tin it, insulate it, and put a furnace in it. It turned out REALLY nice. I feel like I'm working in a world class shop now. Definitely spoiled. I hope to have a space this nice at my own place someday.

Anyways, I thought I'd break in the new shop properly by completely disassembling my rig for a clutch replacement, haha.

I did all of this in one night, and when I drove it out in the morning I felt a vibration. Drove it for a day and it never went away, so I tore it apart again and took all of my clutch parts to a machine shop to have them spin them. The flywheel/pressure plate assembly was over 70 grams out! They drilled the back of the flywheel to balance it, I reinstalled it, and I was good to go. So I've done two clutch replacements in my truck this past week, haha. Damn the aftermarket companies for sending out parts that don't meet OEM quality requirements.

Also, when I had it apart I noticed that I have broken my driveshaft yoke at some point. I'm currently in correspondence with Tom Wood to see what I can do about getting it fixed.

glad to see you're back at it. When you coming to Harlan?

Yeah man, 70 grams is a lot. The vibration was definitely noticeable.

We'll see about a Harlan trip this year. I'm in the planning stages to spend a week in Moab this spring. Loading up my bicycle, rock climbing gear, hiking shoes, one of my best buddies and we're heading west - half doors the whole way again. If everything works out as planned, we'll have a week and half of the best wheeling, mounting biking, hiking, and climbing we've ever done.

I just have to keep at it to make sure the rig is properly prepped for the trip.

That sounds like the best week ever. Especially the half doors hahah
