Da Fjord mn_smokeater's F-150 Build.

The options are new moter swap or sell it as is?

well guys the decision has been made... the trucks getting sold along with my older car.

HOLY OLD THREAD BATMAN!

Just kidding :) Sucks about the truck, it was quite the beast while you had it.

yeah i know what ya mean pete thats why im selling the thing and the car.

i got a line on a rumer that the local tech school auto shop can do work on my issue and that means i may not have to sell the truck as they dont charge labor. so that means id have 300 bucks to put twowards the engine to fix it up!

so what i need done is:
Head gaskets replaced (and the assorted gaskets with that)
Drivers side Hub Replaced
Speedo Cable and Gear Replaced
oil change
Tranny case gasket
Diff fluid front and rear
fix Vacuum leaks

after most of that i think she will run better then ever.

Other than the heads, the rest of it looks pretty simple.

Just remember: it's a tech school with newbies and a couple teachers. It may take them a long time to do this task because I'm sure that they have to explain each step to them.

But if they get it done for you, cookies and MT. Dew are what they would want as a reward!

I think its a pretty good chance to get it worked on. And they have an engine building class where they build pro level race engines so I think it would be in good hands. I wonder if they can go through it and do the stuff that only costs time and labor

I know that when we had an automotive class at the VOTEC, anything involving an engine rebuild was not allowed because in the past, someone forgot to put the oil pump shaft back in the distributor and the "customer" blew up his engine 5 mins down the road.

due to winter coming the beast is going to go into a shop for a assessment as to what can be done.

i have a 86 F150 coming that's being given to me for free that may serve as a donor if needed as a last option.

so after i get it running i just need to fix the hubs and im back in the blue oval world.

Noice! :icon_surprised::icon_thumby:

Hey! There's a chance I won't be able to use my exhaust dumps when I change it over to sidepipes.

If that's the case, I want you to have them.

Again, that is IF I don't use them on this one.
