I am looking at putting a dana 50 TTB under my 81 F-100. I read in the tech section that it bolts up slightly different, can any one explain this, or do you know if it will slide right under my truck?

the d50 uses leaf springs, and your frame isn't set up for them.the crossmember is also different,so the pivot brackets won't bolt up.it will bolt into any 80/up 250 or 350 that has the solid axle(to do that woul be a backwards step),the holes for the pivot brackets are already in the frame.i've made these work with the half ton springs and radius arms, but theres a lot of fab work involved.i'll see if i can dig up some pics later.

is the 44 a 1/2 ton ttb,3/4 ton ttb,or solid axle?all three were available, and will have different mounting options.

that'll bolt in.

86+ F-350's have the solid 60... I would much rather have that than a TTB. There is nothing special about either the ride or handling in dad's '80 F-350 with the D50 TTB.

it's pretty easy...just use the '79 radius arm brackets, build a simple trac bar bracket on the left frame, and that's about it....well,except for the million little details.

But the million little details are just that... little details. Little tedious details like measuring and all that junk. But in all reality it wouldn't be any more difficult that try to put on a D50 TTB, but would be MUCH better.
